Modern Families Are Funny

The cast, creators, and fans of Modern Family, were elated when Ted Danson announced their name for Outstanding Comedy Series at last night's Emmy telecast.
Today, CNN and other reports are questioning whether the show deserved to win over Glee.
To this absurd question I say, YES. YES! YES!

The show also nabbed the award for Best Writing, and Eric Stonestreet won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Cameron Tucker.

Dressed To Impress At the Emmy's

Photo: The mother of four, Heidi Klum, showed off her famous runway legs in a delicious Marchesa black mini. Adorable!

From Oscar de la Renta to Marchesa, the glamorous women of primetime television (and then some) showed off their borrowed designer gowns, most expensive jewels they had on loan, and their handsome trophy men.
Billy Bush and Nate Berkus provided anxious viewers with hilarious commentary on the red carpet and it was one of the most worthwhile and entertaining red carpet shows I have seen since Joan Rivers lead.

Are some of these stars fashion forward or do they need to hire a new stylist? What do you think?

Song of the Week: The Heavy - Sixteen

Sixteen by The Heavy is an original funky and soulful song by the indie rock band from Noid, England. This song was released last year but it's a newbie on my play list and for good reason. Check it out!

Since the release of their first album, Great Vengeance and Furious Fire, the band has been featured in Spin Magazine and Rolling Stone.

My New Entourage

Here I am posing with Entourage's Adrian Grenier, at the Thompson Hotel last Tuesday. He was so kind, so intelligent, so charming. What a delight!

A Night To Remember

We ran into actor, Shane West, at Ultra Supper Club last Friday night. He is in Toronto filming episodes for CW's, Nikita. West will be joined by 90's heart throb, Devon Sawa! I haven't seen him in anything since Final Destination!

Burlesque Trailer Saves Thousands From Going To See It

Have you seen the movie trailer for Christina Aguilera's upcoming musical, Burlesque?
I really hope the film is not a direct correlation of it's trailer because it just looks like a similar but more polished version of Glitter. Enough said?
However, the cast does include Academy Award winner Cher, and nominee, Stanley Tucci, as well as the flamboyant personalities of Kristin Bell, Alan Cumming and Peter Gallagher.
I will make a prediction right now and suggest that this stellar cast will be the only buoy that will keep the film afloat at the box office when it comes out next year.

Bold statement?

Aguilera plays a small-town girl with a musical talent, who ventures to Los Angeles for a shot at stardom via Cher's guidance at a Burlesque club! What happened to ambitious chick flicks these days? Decent scripts are definitely numbered.

Will you pay $12.50 to spend 2 hours in a movie theatre watching Christina Aguilera sing? Even worse, to watch her act?

True Love

True Blood co-stars and lovers, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, tied the knot in front of family and friends in Malibu this weekend.
Not that I care all that much. I've never seen an episode of the show or Fly Away Home. This story is really an excuse for me to put up the the latest soft pornographic cover of Rolling Stones Magazine featuring Paquin, Moyer, and co-star, Alexander Skarsgard.
Got blood?

Follow Your Favourite Canine On Twitter

Do you ever wonder what little Baxter is thinking when he's staring at you with that dough eyed look? Well, it is time to end your curiosity because Mattell has developed Puppy Tweets, a product that allow dogs to Tweet!
For only $30.00 Puppy Tweets you and your furry friend will receive a specially designed dog tag and a USB receiver. The tag picks up signals from your dog's motions and triggers one of 500 descriptive Tweets that can be broadcasted on to their very own Twitter account.
For example, when your dog barks, he or she might Tweet, "Bark...and the whole neighbourhood barks with you." Not that impressive. Hopefully the other 499 Tweets are more creative.
In the video clip above, Good Morning America suggests that this invention is one of the must have toys of the year. At the 3:30 mark, they spotlight this product on a real puppy. Their explanation of how it works is quite brief, so if you'd like more information check out the link below.
I can't wait to get this for my little Molly. She can become a blogger just like her mother!

Concert Goers Attacking Performers; A New Trend?

Rapper Method Man was attacked by a beer can during his performance at the Gathering of the Juggalo's this past weekend, and TMZ has just obtained the video of the incident today.
Sadly, this is not the first time a crazed fan physically attacked a musician during a live performance.
Back in 2008, Oasis' front man, Noel Gallagher, was attacked by a fan at the V Festival at Toronto Island Park and the assault made headlines all across North America.
Tila Tequila was also a victim at a recent concert at the Gathering of the Juggalo's in Illinois where she said, "Dudes were throwing stone rocks at my face, beer bottles that split my eye open, almost burnt my hair on fire cuz they threw fire crackers on stage, and they even took the sh*t out of the port-0-potty and threw sh*t and piss at me when I was onstage."
Images were released shortly after the attack, showing Tequila's face bruised and bloody.
And now, the most recent of attacks, has left people in a state of paranoia at concerts.
Security at the Air Canada Centre have taken appropriate measures, banning all bottles in the arena to prevent another crowd attack. Earlier this week, I experienced the new policy at the Aerosmith concert and it was a pain in the butt for many people.

I really hope that these acts of violence won't become a trend at concerts.

Check out the video of Method Man's violent episode at the Gathering of the Juggalo's on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Steven Tyler Is Still Hot At 62

Aerosmith walked my way last night and Steven Tyler dove right into the crowd full of delighted fans.
I'm sure by now, most of you have heard about the alleged body check that sent Tyler flying off the stage while he was performing Walk This Way, but I can assure you it looked quite innocent and voluntary on his part.
Today reports are saying that Joe Perry intentionally bumped into Tyler during the performance last night, pushing him off the stage. But from the 100 level where I sat, it looked like Tyler voluntarily crowd surfed his way into a pit full of intoxicated groupies.
I went on YouTube to investigate the truth to this matter and Perry did in fact nudge Tyler from behind. However, the push did not look forceful enough to send him off the stage! Maybe he's jealous of Tyler's new deal with American Idol?
Whatever the truth may be, I was thrilled to see the legendary five-some together again performing their greatest hits right before my eyes!
They sang Crazy, Pink, Rag Doll, What It Takes and several others that kept 12,000 people on their feet, including my boyfriend et moi.

Is it weird that I find Steven Tyler attractive? I have to say, a man that can rock a hairless chest and green skinny jeans in front of an arena full of on-lookers is a MAN in my eyes! Judge all you want.

Dina Lohan: Mother of the Year

Earlier this morning, Dina Lohan sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, blaming Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel for her daughter, Lindsay Lohan's, misfortunes.
A few days ago, reports were released that Judge Revel has bowed out of the case after a prosecutor allegedly complained that she contacted experts and participants on her own time. However, in the interview, Lohan was hard pressed with the idea that the judge simply "went overboard and played serious hardball with Lindsay." Whatever that means.
Wasn't your daughter charged with more than one DUI? Didn't she violate her probation? Two big incentives to punish someone, I'd say.
However, after a brief stint behind bars, everyone should be happy to know that "Lindsay made the most of her stay," and "made friends with murderers." I don't know what's more shocking; the fact that Lindsay made friends with murderers, or the fact that convicted killers wanted to befriend Lindsay.
On the show, Lauer toyed with the idea that her sentencing may help Lindsay in her personal and professional life. Lohan responded by saying "it's all propaganada. I think a lot of it is pre-orchestrated and you're reading things that aren't based on facts."
She also got incredibly defensive when asked about her daughter's history and tried to rectify all of the events by justifying her actions. Fess up already! No wonder your daughter is in denial. She needs to know that she was wrong and thus harsh consequences ensued.
Lindsay is now in court ordered rehab for 90 days but Dina expects her to get out earlier. And good news to all the troubled youth! Lindsay may become an advocate slash ambassador after rehab, to try to help others with the same addictions. I think this may be her calling.
So, in conclusion, I think, but I could be wrong, the message of the interview is that celebrities live harder lives than us common folks do because of tabloids, the paprazzi and propoganda...but like Lindsay, they are "brilliant." Thank you Dina Lohan for making it all clear in a ten minute interview.

Ding Dong the Witch Is Gone

On tonight's episode of Big Brother 12, Rachel Reilly was finally evicted from the house! Thank god! She was such a terror.

For those of you who have never seen Reilly on Big Brother, in a nuttshell, she was a moody, difficult, verbally abusive player who loved getting into screaming matches with her other housemates. Don't get me wrong, her antics were made for great television but I have a very low tolerance for rude people - even if they are on TV.
Anyways, although she was a very strong player, she spent too much time focusing on her show-mance with Brendon Villegas, and allienating herself from the others. By creating such a finite alliance, they became the biggest target from the getgo. This was a huge mistake on both of their parts.
But even after winning two Head of Household competitions, she was finally booted out of the house by a unanimous vote, and now Villegas is left to fend for himself without a single friend or alliance in the Big Brother house. That's not going to work out too well for him on this show unless he wins the next HOH. I can not wait for Sunday's episode on CBS to see if he can actually save himself from next week's eviction.

Oh trash-TV aka Reality-TV! How much I love you.

John Mayer Rocks the Molson Amphitheatre

Last night, John Mayer took to the stage in front of an almost sold out stadium at the Molson Amphitheatre. My friend Elisha Gauthier and I watched him perform from our 400 Level seats! Thumbs down right? But believe it or not, we upgraded our tickets from two lawn seats - barely.
He sang such hits including Georgia, Slow Dancing, Heartbreak Warfare and my personal favourite, Who Says.
I was so blown away by his natural talent as an incredible guitarist and soulful voice that I even continued to listen to Battle Studies on the way home from the concert! Every song he sang mimicked those on his record and completely captivated the audience, and for two hours, 15,000 people had a giant sing-a-long! It was fantastic.
He brilliantly used his IPad all night to the audience's advantage and sang several songs that were requested on his Twitter page. It was really the futuristic way for an artist to connect with their fans.
Despite how he has been portrayed in the media, pre and post sexual-napalm comment about Jessica Simpson, I had a great time sitting in my seat and enjoying his incredibly textured voice. The guy may have been an attention whore in the media with his inappropriate comments and sly remarks, but he's clearly trying to reinvent himself by dodging TMZ cameras and other news outlets. He's really made a subtle comeback and his talent is really all we need to focus on as fans.

Photo: This picture of Mayer reading from his Twitter page was taken at the concert.

Well, it was announced on Monday that Ashley Greco had made it to the Top 10 of the Women of Radio Co-Host for a Day Search. Unfortunately, she did not make it to the final 4. Regis and Kelly don't know what they're missing! Until next year's contest...

Local Disc Jockey's Television Dream

Z103.5FM Morning Show Co-Host and Mississauga's very own, Ashley Greco, has become a Top 100 semi-finalist in Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa's Women of Radio Co-Host For A Day Search !
I had the oppurtunity to speak with Greco yesterday about her nomination and she said she was surprised when she found out about the contest. “Believe it or not I didn’t know about the contest. It was a listener who nominated me for it. We got an email three and a half weeks ago from the listener saying he had nominated me. We read the email on the air and of course we were touched by it," said Greco.
One hundred thousand disc jockeys were nominated and shortly after, the top 100 who received the most votes from fans were chosen as the semi-finalists.
She also said that she is thrilled to be one of nine Canadians who are the top contenders. "As far as I know there are only eight Canadians who are in the Top 100. Four women will be selected to appear on the show that week so I’m hoping they choose one Canadian and that would be me. It would be really cool to represent Canada,” she said.
Greco, who has never been to New York City, was also excited at the oppurtunity to make the transition into television, she said. “First and foremost, for any woman in radio which is a very pressing industry to be in, the transition into television would be amazing. I have never been on television and this would be an opportunity to be on live TV and on Regis and Kelly in New York City!"
When I asked her how she would host the show, she said she would be entertaining and modestly giggeled. “I want to keep in mind what the show represents and keep it fresh fun and friendly. That’s what Kelly [Ripa] brings to it too but I’m me. I would definitely bring myself to the show for sure.”
Greco's loyal fans have created a Facebook campaign in honor of her spot in the competition and the support has continued to escalate. “I am completely overwhelmed at the amount of people who have taken the time and who have taken the steps to vote for me. I have been just getting words of encouragement that I can’t believe. Really, truly, people aren’t sayin if you win but when you win. I lack confidence in that department so I have been able to get such a huge boost."
Though she was coy about the possibility of winning, she has considered a few ideal guests she'd like to interview. “The Expendables comes out the same week! Sylvester Stalone is someone I would really love to interview. But I am a huge, no pun intended, die hard, Die Hard fan and I would love to interview Bruce Willis.”
Luckily, there are only a few days left until Greco finds out if her dreams of meeting the Planet Hollywood founders will come true! Tune into Live with Regis and Kelly on Monday, August 9, 2010 to find out whether she has made it to the Top 10. Log onto their website and Facebook to show your support!
Good luck Ashley!

Times Like These I Need The Black Keys

Ohio's very own, The Black Keys, has just released the video for their hit song Tighten Up and it is brilliant! The song is featured on their sixth studio album, Brothers, which sold 73,000 copies in its first week! It's a feel good track you will surely enjoy! Watch the video via the link provided below, and I hope it satisfies your musical cravings.

I must dedicate this video to Breanne Belitski - for changing my life when she introduced me to the Black Keys.

Sham Wow Guy: A Shoe-In For This Year's Razzie Awards

Does Vince the Sham Wow Guy actually think people are going to spend their money to watch his movie??? Not only did he write and direct his upcoming film, Underground Comedy 2010, but he also stars in it! If the movie is anything like the trailer, it will surely be a contender for the next Razzie Awards. After watching the trailer, I still have no idea what the film is actually about! The film's tagline is "Worst move ever." I'm sure it is. It looks epic. In a disastrous kind of way.
